Taylor Visual Group (TVG) successfully delivered a comprehensive signage package for “The James,” a prominent mixed-use development in Richmond, Virginia. This multifaceted project encompassed the design, fabrication, and installation of exterior branding elements, over 200 ADA-compliant signs, 60 wayfinding and directional signs, and 900 individual dimensional room numbers. Beginning in May 2024, TVG expertly managed the entire process, collaborating closely with the developer, general contractor (GC), and city officials to navigate structural engineering requirements, power considerations, and stringent code compliance. Despite the dynamic environment of an ongoing construction site, including elevator access limitations and the need to coordinate with numerous trades, TVG completed the installation on schedule, demonstrating their commitment to efficiency and problem-solving.

The James is a newly constructed mixed-use building featuring ground-level retail space and six floors of residential apartment units. Initially contracted to design and install exterior signage, Taylor Visual Group’s expertise and collaborative approach led to an expanded scope of work.   • Marquee-Style Blade Sign: A distinctive blade sign, reminiscent of classic theater marquees, was designed to project sophistication and capture attention.
  • Channel Letters: Prominent channel letter signage was implemented for the parking garage entrance and the main building corner, ensuring clear identification.
  • Pool Area Signage: TVG developed complementary signage for the building’s amenity spaces, including the pool area.
  • Dynamic Strip Lighting: To add a modern and engaging element, dynamic strip lighting with full color-changing capabilities was integrated at the top and back of the building. Utilizing DMX controllers, this system allows for the display of various colors and patterns, perfect for seasonal themes and creating a vibrant atmosphere.
